"These one-of-a-kind baby quilts feature organic fabric with Charley Harper’s iconic artwork and machine quilting that echoes elements of the fabric design.

Artist and conservationist Charley Harper (1922-2007) had an alternative way of looking at nature. There was a rare and amusing playfulness in Harper’s artwork, as well as graphic genius. He revealed the unique aspects of his wildlife subjects through highly stylized geometric reduction, and his delightful artwork encouraged change through humor. He believed that humor made it easier to encourage changes in our attitudes and awareness of environmental concerns.

Charley Harper’s vision meshes well with the philosophy of Flax & Stitch. The founder of Flax & Stitch, Muriel Vandersmissen, spent an exchange year with our family in Vermont and she has become a daughter to us. It’s a privilege to share my work on this website."
