Built for the freezer. At home in the fridge too.
A plastic freezer bag works once, maybe twice if you’re careful. A Flaxie Freeze bag is still going years later — washed, dried, and ready for the next batch.
Made from certified food-safe Eco-PUL, these bags were designed for serious daily use. Water resistant, breathable, and machine washable to 60°C. Available in five sizes, from small herb portions to bulk batches.
Built to last: our prototype bags from October 2018 are still in daily use.
Why snaps, not zips or velcro?
We tested both. Zips trap food in their teeth and don’t stretch as the bag fills. Velcro works better, but still catches stray bits of food over time.
Genuine KAM snaps solve both problems — a secure, hygienic closure that flexes naturally as you load the bag, freezer-proof and built to last.

Not just for the freezer

The breathable PUL means Flaxie Freeze works just as well in the fridge — keeping cheese, mushrooms, cut vegetables, and lettuce fresher for longer than a plastic bag or box.

Our PUL fabric is certified to comply with food safety standards following laboratory tests for repeated use, contact with fat, meat, fish... all types of food!
This is important - so we commissioned our own tests in addition to those of the manufacturer. ✅

Dishwasher, washing machine or hand wash. PUL dries quickly - tumble drying not required nor recommended.

We use high quality PUL fabric which can be washed safely at a microbe killing 60°C as and when required. Lower quality PUL can only be washed at up to 40°C.
If each Flaxie Freeze sold since January 2019 replaced just one disposable freezer bag every month, then together we’ve already prevented more than 2 million pieces of plastic waste. 🙏
Calculated at end‑Jan 2026
Assuming that each of the disposable freezer bags that were replaced by a Flaxie Freeze weighed 5g, we have saved 10 tonnes of plastic waste. 🫶

Reusable Freezer Bag Formats
From small herb portions to bulk batch cooking, there’s a Flaxie Freeze for every job. Use a different colour for each food group, or write directly on the bag with a washable pen for easy identification.
Flaxie Freeze Reusable Freezer Bags – FAQs
Flaxie Freeze Reusable Freezer Bags are designed for durability and food safety, but there are several ways to identify contents:
- Sense of Touch – The light, flexible PUL fabric makes it easy to feel the shape and texture of frozen items. For example, you can distinguish a loaf of bread from frozen strawberries without opening the bag.
- Organize by Zone or Shape: Designate specific areas or drawers in your freezer for certain types of food (e.g., “meat,” “veggies,” “soups”). For distinctly shaped items, you can often feel the contents of the bag to identify them by touch.
- Pre-Freeze in Shaped Portions: For liquids like soup or stew (which need to be frozen solid in another container first due to the seams not being leakproof), freeze them in standard block shapes (e.g., in silicone molds or small containers). Once solid, transfer to the Flaxie Freeze bag. You’ll then know that any block of a certain shape corresponds to that specific food.
- Colour Coding – Use different bag colours for different food types.
- Labels & Direct Writing – Stick on reusable labels or write directly on the bag using a non-permanent pen (best on lighter-coloured bags).
- Transparent Window? – We prototyped this, but it added manufacturing complexity, time, and cost, which would result in a higher selling price. More importantly, it compromised the integrity of the PUL fabric by introducing a plastic element that does not match our PUL’s food safety or longevity.
Absolutely! Our bags have been lab-tested for repeated food contact, including meat and fish storage. The breathable PUL fabric helps maintain food freshness while preventing excessive moisture buildup.
Freezer burn occurs when food is exposed to air and loses moisture. While PUL fabric is breathable, it helps reduce moisture buildup and ice crystal formation, which can contribute to freezer burn. For best results:
Remove excess air before closing the bag.
Use proper portioning to minimize air pockets.
Store food efficiently to prevent prolonged exposure to fluctuating temperatures.
Reusable Freezer Bags, like Flaxie Freeze, offer several benefits over disposable plastic freezer bags:
- Eco-Friendly – Reusable, reducing plastic waste.
- Durable & Washable – Machine washable at up to 60°C, but also effective at lower, more economical temperatures.
- Breathable & Water-Resistant – Helps maintain food freshness without trapping excess moisture.
- Certified Food-Safe – EU & USA certified, PVC & BPA-free, tested by the manufacturer and independently retested by a Belgian laboratory.
- Cost-Effective – Saves money over time compared to constantly buying disposable bags.

Flaxie Freeze bags are water-resistant, but they are not fully waterproof. While the PUL fabric repels moisture, liquids can seep through the seams between the time the bag is filled and before the contents freeze.
However, if you freeze liquid foods first in another container—like soups, stocks, or stews in ice cube trays—Flaxie Freeze bags become a great storage solution! Once frozen into solid portions, simply transfer them into your Flaxie Freeze bag for organized, space-saving freezer storage.
Flaxie Freeze bags use high-quality KAM brand snaps, designed for long-lasting durability that won’t degrade over time. ✅
Follow this rolling motion technique for smooth opening:
- Hold the Flaxie Freeze bag in one hand, with your thumb just below the snap.
- Place your other thumb at the point where the two parts of the snap join together, with your forefinger behind the snap.
- Roll your thumb forward over your forefinger to release the snap smoothly.
❌ Avoid pulling directly apart—this can make it feel harder to open.
❌ Don’t use your fingernails to pry them apart—this won’t budge the snap (which is securely attached using an industrial press), but it might leave you with a broken nail.

We tested zip closures extensively, but they presented several challenges:
❌ Food gets stuck in the teeth of the zip – When placing food inside, small bits can get trapped, making cleaning difficult.
❌ Cotton-backed zips restrict flexibility – Unlike our breathable PUL fabric, zips do not stretch and so prevent the bag from stretching naturally as food is placed inside.
❌ Increased manufacturing complexity & cost – Adding a zip would increase production time and cost, resulting in a higher selling price.
Instead, we use high-quality KAM brand snaps, which provide a secure, hygienic closure while allowing the bag to flex and stretch naturally as the food is added.
For storing homemade bread, we recommend:
XXL (35cm x 40cm) – Ideal for large loaves or multiple baguettes.
XL (30cm x 31cm) – Great for standard-sized loaves.
Large (27cm x 27cm) – Perfect for smaller artisan loaves or sliced bread.
Cleaning is simple!
Machine wash at up to 60°C for deep cleaning after meat/fat exposure, but equally effective at lower, more economical temperatures (e.g., washed alongside synthetic clothing).
Hand wash with warm water and mild soap.
Dishwasher-safe – Turn the bag inside out and place it on the cutlery rack or stretch it over rack supports to keep it in place (best for 1-2 bags at a time).
Air dry – No need for tumble drying!
