Eco-PUL Fabric — The Same Material We Use

This is the Eco-PUL we use to make our own Flaxie Freeze reusable freezer bags and Flaxie lunch bags. Water-resistant, flexible, PVC-free, and independently tested food-safe, it's the fabric of choice for reusable bags, wet bags, cloth nappies, and any project that needs a reliable moisture barrier.

Our Eco-PUL is made in the USA from a 73% polyester, 27% polyurethane mix — a 0.025mm (1 mil) polyurethane lamination bonded to the polyester with a solvent-free, hot-melt adhesive. It has been independently tested by Celabor, an accredited laboratory in Belgium, and confirmed safe for repeated contact with meat, fish, fats, fruit and vegetables. Separately, it also meets US CPSIA limits on lead and phthalates. The polyurethane layer is microporous rather than hydrophilic — microscopic pores, visible under the microscope on our What is PUL? guide, let water vapour escape while blocking liquid water, so it stays genuinely breathable rather than just waterproof. Machine washable up to 60°C — a meaningful advantage over lower-grade PUL fabrics that can only be washed at 40°C due to the increased risk of delamination at higher temperatures. Available in a wide range of prints and solid colours, sold in 20cm increments.

For full details on the fabric, its properties and care instructions, read our guide: What is PUL?
